Conferences, Networks and Events
EMFEC maintains a diverse portfolio of professional development services to the learning and skills sector. Themed professional development activities are offered under the Highlight Programme, bespoke in-house provision can be arranged through the Select Programme, whilst the Focus Programme continues to deliver dedicated networks for practitioners. Specialist programmes in the Data Space suite enhance the ICT skills of both front-line and support staff, with sessions to design and produce ILT-based lessons proving particularly successful.
Popular themes in the Highlight Programme include:
- quality, pre/post-inspection issues and behaviour management
- observing and mentoring tutors
- differentiation and motivating students
- managing disruptive and angry students
The Select Programme feactures many of those themes and events offered under the Highlight Programme. These are, however, complemented by sessions ranging from NLP in Teaching and Learning to Protecting Young People in College.
Network events are run throughout the year as part of the Focus Programme. Providing regular forums for staff to update their role-specific knowledge there are currently networks dedicated to:
- HE in FE
- basic skills
- staff development
- teacher training
- quality managers
