STAR  - Skilled Talented Able Recruits - is a project, supported by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC), designed to assist people with a disability into permanent employment. 

Managed by Ruth Wheelhouse, two Disabillity Employment Co-ordinators will work with employers in the region to identify the skills needed by disabled people to help them fill vacancies.  By feeding this information back to those learning providers, working with and supporting people with disabilities, a "skills matching" and support system will be established to ensure that employers have access to talented and skilled people.

Commending the project, local news presenter Dominic Heale (East Midlands Today) noted "the valuable work done by the STAR project helping people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities across the East Midlands"  Dominic adds "I hope that many more employers will see the benefits of employing disabled people".
